What to do if you accidently call 999

Over the previous 3 months numbers of abandoned 999 calls in the Amber Valley area have increased.

Don't panic, and most importantly… DON'T HANG UP!

It happens to the best of us—pocket dials are real!

If you accidentally call 999, the most important advice is: stay on the line

tell the operator it was an accident

Do not hang up immediately, as the operator will likely need to call you back to confirm you are safe and that no genuine emergency is taking place.
